Melissa McCarthy brought Spicey and his dollies back to “Saturday Night Live”
Melissa McCarthy hit the Saturday Night Live stage last night in her much anticipated hosting gig. We couldn’t wait to see what was in store following a season epically portraying White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. It did not disappoint.
We were curious what spin the cast would take this week, given Spicer was temporarily replaced with Sarah Huckabee-Sanders. The sketch starts strong, with Aidy Bryant playing Huckabee-Sanders, explaining that Spicer is fulfilling his duties in the Naval Reserves.
However, we quickly discover McCarthy is actually watching through the window from the bushes, a play on Spicer’s alleged handling of the firing of FBI director James Comey this week. (In case you missed it, reports said Spicer was “hiding among the bushes” to avoid questions from journalists in the aftermath of the news.)
It doesn’t take long for McCarthy as Spicer to reclaim her territory.
She storms in after the journalists describe Spicer as “bullish,” attacking them with a fire extinguisher. But the best part is when she brings out the dolls to explain current affairs — this time opting for Russian nesting dolls. The first is Trump who McCarthy describes as “the biggest one and the most beautiful.” As she continues unveiling the dolls, we see FBI director James Comey, who “wasn’t being nice to our friend, Hillary.”
As the sketch progresses, another journalist asks if Spicer is surprised Trump fired Comey before him. Spicer gets increasingly heated, retoring that he is just trying to tell the press what Trump has relayed to him. When someone asks “What if he’s lying to you?” it prompts an intense existential crisis for the beleaguered Spicer, who runs off to New York in search of Trump.
We’re going to leave the rest for you to enjoy, because it’s pretty amazing. There may or may not be a kiss between McCarthy and Alec Baldwin, resuming his role as Donald Trump.
Check it out in all it’s glory here.

No matter how crazy the world is, at least we have Spicey updates to help us bear it.
