Melissa McCarthy joked she would come back as a totally different character in any future “Gilmore Girls” episodes
It doesn’t seem like there are any surprises left in the world of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, but leave it Melissa McCarthy to deliver another bombshell. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, McCarthy talked her feelings about those final four words in the series finale, and like the rest of us, she wasn’t very happy. She said:
"I had been waiting a long time to know, because [creator] Amy [Sherman-Palladino] had always said she knows exactly how it ends, but now it's like, 'Is that the last four words?'"
We feel you, Melissa. We really feel you.

McCarthy went on to talk about the possibility of more episodes. A lot of her co-stars have been giving major hints about what the future holds. McCarthy said she wouldn’t reprise her role as Sookie — but she’s willing to come back as another character.
Instead of reprising her role as our favorite chef, Sookie St. James, she’s willing to come back as none other than Lorelai! McCarthy joked:
"No [I wouldn't come back as Sookie], but I would come back as Lorelai. And that is a challenge to Lauren Graham."

This is good news and bad news. It means we might never see McCarthy as Sookie again, but it also means there’s hope for future episodes, even if we have to watch Melissa McCarthy and Lauren Graham duke it out over who gets to play Lorelai.
Even though McCarthy might have closed the door on Sookie, we aren’t giving up on more episodes of Gilmore Girls, and we never will. In the meantime, you can get your Melissa McCarthy fix with the upcoming show she’s producing with her husband, Ben Falcone.
Nobodies premieres Wednesday, March 29th on TV Land.
