Melania Trump thinks her creepy red Christmas trees were a great idea, thank you very much
Earlier this week, the White House unveiled its 2018 Christmas decorations, and oh boy, did the internet have some questions for Melania Trump. For some reason, the first lady decided that filling a hallway with creepy red trees that look like handmaids from The Handmaid’s Tale was a great idea. And now that she’s received backlash for her…unique…design choice, Trump is coming to the trees’ defense.
On Wednesday, November 28th, Trump spoke at Liberty University and took the opportunity to address the trees, chalking up the controversy to a difference in taste.
"We are in the 21st century and everybody has a different taste," she said. "I think they look fantastic. I hope everybody will come over and visit it. In real life, they look even more beautiful. And you are all very welcome to visit the White House, the people’s house."
Well, that’s certainly one explanation. But we have a feeling that if blood red trees were anything other than creepy, they would have taken off a long time ago.

We can’t blame Trump for defending her choice, though. After all, nobody wants to hear that their Christmas decorations look like something out of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. But maybe next time she could consider going with something a little less…bloody?
Been wondering where Melania Trump got her inspiration for the White House Christmas trees from… pic.twitter.com/Va63GQ3TUX

Yeah, that’s probably for the best.
