Meghan Trainor sings some much-needed Thanksgiving carols on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
We have Christmas carols, (i.e. “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” “O Holy Night”). And we have Hanukkah songs (“The Dreidel Song,” “The Latke Song,” “Eight Nights of Joy”). But we don’t have any Thanksgiving songs, and that is a true shame, because there is SO much material to work with! There are turkeys, pumpkin pies, crazy family gatherings, grandmas awkwardly asking us if we’ll ever get married —I mean, come on.
Well, Jimmy Kimmel was just as dismayed, but he had an idea. On Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, he said, “There are literally thousands and thousands of Christmas songs, but I think the closest thing we have to a song for Thanksgiving is the theme from Golden Girls, and to me, that is unacceptable.”
Which is why he asked Meghan Trainor to take care of this Thanksgiving carol-less problem by making up some of her own, such as “My Flight Got Canceled in Denver (“I’ll Be Sleeping at an Airport Quizno’s Tonight,” and “I’m Not Bringing Leftovers on the Plane, Mom”) Watch and sing along!
