Meghan Trainor wrote her boyfriend a song called “Marry Me,” and we freaking love a woman who knows what she wants
Meghan Trainor has never been shy about what she wants out of a relationship (“Dear Future Husband,” anyone?). And now, she’s being extra deliberate. How? Well, you see, Meghan Trainor wrote her boyfriend a song with a very direct title: “Marry Me.”
The pop sensation is Cosmopolitan’s May cover star, and in her (stunning) photoshoot’s accompanying interview, the 23-year-old gets real about her relationship with Spy Kids alum Daryl Sabara — including how much of her next album will be influenced by him (spoiler alert: a lot).
“I wrote six songs on the road about him in front of his face. One is called ‘Marry Me,’” Trainor told Cosmopolitan.
There are a couple of amazing things about this quote. First off, so often, women are told that the man in the relationship should be the one to take charge and propose and we’re like um, why does it have to be that way? So anything bucking this stereotype is a huge win, in our book.
And secondly, swoon. (Sorry, that’s literally all there is to #2.)
We totally respect when celebs are private about their relationship and all that, but it’s also really fun to bask in others’ butterflies — especially when those others are people we already like a lot, like Trainor.
Speaking of “awww”ing ourselves to death, Trainor shares that the twosome’s first date was pretty low-key and was, in fact, a double date consisting of bowling and karaoke. Which sounds like our kind of first date, tbh.
"He was the best kisser ever," the singer tells the mag. "I know I'm really good at kissing, but I was shocked when he was."
We sort of still see Sabara as Juni from Spy Kids so we get the “shocked” thing, but how sweet is it that his girlfriend is bragging about him to the whole world? Heart eyes for days over here.
Another super huge check in Trainor’s “YAS BOI” column? Her bae is super complimentary of her bangin’ bod.
“I never really felt sexy with guys before,” she says. “No one expressed how they liked my body out loud in the bedroom until I met Daryl.”
She adds, "He is obsessed with it — every inch. And that has improved my confidence more than even 'Bass' did. He's a champion, so we're in heaven."

Please excuse us while we fan ourselves off for just a sec, brb.
Is it too forward of us to officially request that “Marry Me” becomes a single, with an accompanying music video starring Sabara? It is? OK, never mind (but really, please Meghan).
Trainor’s issue of Cosmopolitan hits newsstands Tuesday, and we can’t wait to get our hands on a copy. Any powerhouse lady who isn’t afraid to be direct about what she wants out of life, and a partner, gets a fan in us for life.
