Meghan Markle asked her makeup artist to not cover up her freckles, and this is why she rules

Since the announcement of Meghan Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry, the soon-to-be royal has still remained true to herself. And she’s not all talk either: from her beauty and fashion choices, to how she lives and interacts with people, Meghan proves that she practices what she preaches. She’s been breaking royal rules left and right: wearing black, throwing her hair up in a messy bun at official events, signing autographs, etc. — and we love her all the more for it.

And it turns out that Meghan is even more down-to-earth and confident based on her simple, yet authentic makeup request. According to her former makeup artist, Lydia F. Sellers, Meghan never wants to cover up her adorable freckles.

In an interview with Refinery29 UK, Sellers says,

"Every time I'd do her makeup, she'd say, 'Can we just make sure my freckles are peeking through? I don't want a ton of foundation.' It was more about the amount of product that went on her skin and keeping it really fresh and dewy, rather than caking it on."

How awesome is that?

We love that Meghan embraces her freckles and the things that make her unique.

Not only do her freckles look lovely, but her request sends a great message to girls and women about self-acceptance and embracing what you’ve got. In an era of intense photoshopping, airbrushing, contouring, and flawless makeup, it’s refreshing to see Meghan let her natural beauty  shine through.

In case you’re wondering how to recreate Meghan’s fresh-faced look, Sellers tells Refinery29 UK that she used Armani Luminous Silk Foundation with a Beautyblender, sheering out her makeup and letting her skin radiate.

Add this one to the ever-growing long list of reasons to love this future princess.
