Meghan Markle said that she’s always had a *thing* for British guys and we have to agree with her
Now that Meghan Markle seems to be officially dating Price Harry, everyone wants to know just how it all happened. As it turns out, Meghan Markle has always had a thing for English accents. In a 2013 interview with Esquire U.K. she told the magazine that “I love how much men call you ‘darling’ here, I’m a sucker for a compliment.”
While it’s not scientifically proven, compliments in a sexy English accent are a thousand times more charming. Markle also talks about how English guys dress. “I love how British guys dress for the cold,” she said. “I’m from L.A. so I’m used to seeing people in sunglasses and flip-flops. There’s something so romantic about a man in a scarf and a knitted hat.”
It’s no surprise that Markle has always had a thing for men from across the pond. From Sherlock Holmes to Prince Harry, English men tend to sound and look better than their American counterparts. It’s probably because we aren’t used to their pea coat wearing and tea drinking ways. Accents have an incredible impact on how we perceive a compliment or even something that might sound smarmy coming from someone from Boston, Seattle, or Houston. It’s no surprise that Markle is dating English royalty since Prince Harry probably charms Meghan Markle on a regular basis with his accent and his winter style.
Don’t worry ladies. There are plenty of English fish in the sea.
