Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have a Brand New Podcast

We've got the first clip of the Sussexes introducing their new podcast.

After they announced that they’d be formally stepping down from their royal duties earlier this year, we knew big things were probably on the way for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. And they’ve definitely delivered—not only did they strike a multi-year deal with Netflix, but the couple is also launching a Spotify podcast, with the first episode dropping before the end of 2020.

Spotify announced that the exclusive partnership, called Archewell Audio (in honor of their recently launched nonprofit organization, Archewell), will “spotlight diverse perspectives and voices,” with the couple at the helm of their very own audio series.

So far, it’s unclear exactly when the podcast will debut or how frequently episodes will drop, but we do know that a holiday episode is on the way very soon.

In a joint statement announcing the news, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex explained why they decided to join the podcasting world this year in particular. “What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction,” they said. “With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other’s stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are.”

Though it seems the official offerings will come in 2021, they’re kicking things off with a holiday special that “will feature stories of hope and compassion from inspirational guests in celebration of the new year,” as mentioned by Spotify.

We’ll have to stay tuned for more details, but for now, we have a truly adorable  introductory clip of the pair announcing their podcast—with Markle explaining why Harry should be the one to make the announcement.

There’s no better balm to help end 2020 than by hearing what these two have up their sleeves. We’re so ready for this.
