Meghan Markle says that Prince Harry is a feminist, and now we love this couple even more
Prince Harry has always been generally considered the cool, ~woke~ royal, and now we can confirm that not only is he everyone’s favorite prince, but he’s a feminist, too. Harry and Meghan Markle made an appearance at Cardiff Castle in Wales on January 18th, where Markle casually mentioned to an onlooker that her royal beau is indeed a feminist.
In a video now circulating on Twitter, a young woman by the name of Jessica Phillips tells Markle that she’s happy to have a feminist in the royal family, to which Markle responds, “He’s a feminist too, so there’s that.”
“She was so lovely,” Phillips later told People. “I said it was really lovely to have a feminist in the royal family, and she said Harry is a feminist too.”
Listen, we’re not going to melt into a puddle and congratulate Harry on being a feminist, because to quote Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, “We should all be feminists.” That being said, having two members of the royal family publicly identify as feminists is a really good thing for everyone. We should also credit Markle for making Harry’s politics known. Meaning if it weren’t for her, we wouldn’t have known he identified as such.

As for Markle, she’s the feminist the British monarchy needs. When she was 11-years-old, she wrote to Proctor and Gamble in response to a sexist soap ad that implied housework is exclusively for women. Her letter worked, too, because the brand eventually changed the language in their ad.
So yeah, Prince Harry is cool and all, but Markle is the woke royal we deserve.
