This royal family member just joined Instagram, so can Meghan Markle reactivate her account now?

If you try to do a Google search for “Meghan Markle Instagram,” you will come up empty-handed. The actress-turned-royal used to have a colorful Instagram and blog (rest in peace, The Tig), but once she and Prince Harry announced their engagement, she deleted her entire social media presence. It has long been known that none of the royals are on Instagram or Twitter except for the official Kensington Palace Twitter, which basically just releases statements and professional photographs on behalf of the family.

However, millennial royal family member Princess Eugenie (who also got engaged recently) just made her Instagram debut. Now that Princess Eugenie is on Instagram, does that mean that Markle can and should reactivate hers? Don’t just stop there, what about the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton?

So far Eugenie (she is one of Prince Harry and William’s cousins) only has two posts and 12,000 followers. She announced the occasion with a simple: “I can think of no better day than today, International Women’s Day, to launch my personal Instagram. I hope to use this platform to share the causes, passions and people close to my heart.”

When Markle deleted her Instagram account, a royal source told ABC News, “Ms. Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years. However, as she has not used them for some time she has taken the decision to close them.”

We could find a screengrab of an old Markle ‘gram floating around the web, but we’ll respect the fact that she deleted those photos for a reason. However, that doesn’t mean she didn’t surface on the social feeds of her friend’s IGs.

So, Meghan, time to reactivate the old handle?
