Meghan Markle’s official bio is up on the royal family website, and it’s SO feminist

After months of excitement and anticipation, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were finally married on May 19th in a dazzling ceremony. But while the 2018 royal wedding may be over, Markle’s life as the Duchess of Sussex is only just beginning. As part of her new life, Markle even has her own page on the royal family’s website — and we’re loving its feminist focus.

The new “About the Duchess of Sussex” section contains information about Markle’s charity work, including her involvement with One Young World and World Vision. The site also mentions her speech on International Women’s Day 2015, which she gave as the U.N. Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership. The first sentence of her address is prominently displayed, highlighting her views on gender equality.

“I am proud to be a woman and a feminist,” the quote from Markle reads.

The page also includes a reference to the time Markle protested a sexist Procter & Gamble ad for dish soap.

“From a young age, The Duchess had a keen awareness of social issues and actively participated in charitable work,” the page states. “Aged 11 she successfully campaigned for a company to alter their television advert that had used sexist language to sell washing-up liquid.”

A separate “Biography” page for Markle details her acting career and her former lifestyle website, The Tig. The website states that Markle used The Tig “as a platform to discuss social issues such as gender equality in addition to articles on travel, food, and fashion.”

We love that Markle is using her new platform to call attention to the important issue of gender equality. We can’t wait to see how she grows her philanthropic work as a member of the royal family. Congratulations to the Duchess of Sussex!
