This video of a mega traffic jam in L.A. is weirdly the most beautiful thing ever

Fact: The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year.

Fact: Los Angeles is beautiful during the holidays.

All the lights! Red and white, designed to flow in unison, stretching like ribbons all across the county from North to South. Just like Santa’s route between the poles on Christmas Eve.

Honestly, LA gets a bad rap. Nobody even knows we have such an incredible holiday light display. All they ever talk about is our terrible traffic. We’re starting a campaign to change the way we talk about our town. Operation #takebackLA.

Is our traffic bad? Sure. Is it beautiful? Yes.

Just check out this epic holiday light display:

On the evening of November 22, the 405 freeway lit up from the South Bay all the way to the San Fernando Valley. Fifty miles of synchronized red and white lights streaming in opposite directions, with some complimentary green sparkles from off-freeway stop lights.

And, it doubles as a secret video game!

The coordination, the planning, the sheer man hours to make such a sight happen.

You really can’t understand the magic of Los Angeles until you live here.
