This new kind of meditation has you listen to cuss words, is very effective
If we’re being honest with ourselves, we have one thing to say: cursing is effing wonderful. After a crappy day, there’s nothing better than getting home, lightly closing the door, and unleashing a string of curses that would make a sailor blush. That would explain why we can’t get enough of this new kind of meditation filled with profanities.
F*ck That Meditation is a new (and improved, in our humble opinion) form of meditation created by filmmaker Jason Headley. It starts out pretty normal, advising you to find a comfortable seat, to close your eyes, and to focus on the present moment. But, before long, the swear words begin to passionately and poetically fly out of the narrator’s mouth.
“My wife was taking a meditation class and came home with this guided meditation recording. I did it with her a couple of times and just started talking like the guy around the house. Saying things in a very soothing way,” Jason writes on Reddit, explaining the inspiration behind his guided meditation. “One day she was upset about something and I said, “Just acknowledge that all that shit is fucking bullshit.” And we both laughed at that, the salty language in the soothing voice. So I ran with it.” (We’re really glad you did, Jason.)
Meditation expert Tom Cronin is also a fan of Headley’s calming creation, having told Women’s Health, “A swearing type of meditation can be an absolutely wonderful release. When you have emotional toxins in your system, you need to expend that negative energy to get them out. They won’t just go away on their own. Curse words are, by nature, vigorous, angry words. Saying or even shouting them can clear the anger.” This is perfectly in line with our fave line from the meditation: “Breathe in strength, breathe out bullshit.”
Even if you’re not into cursing and prefer a cleaner form of meditation, F*ck That Meditation will at least give you a good laugh. Because there’s nothing better than hearing a chill man seriously state, “With each breathe, feel your body saying fuck that.”
