This ‘Mean Girls’ actor will be in the new ‘O.C’ spinoff series. All the yes.
This is not a secret worth hiding in our hair. Daniel Franzese, better known as Damian from Mean Girls, has a new show coming out next month and we could not be more excited. Franzese will be co-starring in Recovery Road, a new teen drama (and O.C. spin-off) premiering on Freeform (formerly ABC Family) in January.
Based on the bestselling YA novel by Blake Nelson, Recovery Road focuses on a teen girl dealing with addiction. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is about a party girl named Maddie (played by Jessica Sula) who doesn’t think she has a problem until she’s confronted by her school guidance counselor. Forced to choose between expulsion and rehab, she decides to live with recovering addicts at a rehab facility at night while facing the pressures of her teenage life by day. Franzese plays a patient at the recovery center.
The actor has been steadily working in film and television since Mean Girls hit theaters back in 2004 (he was in the TV series Looking in 2015 as well as a few indie flicks). However, we think he does his best work when he’s in his element, and his element just happens to be in a setting involving teen girls. He just really knows how to work all the angst, sass, and hormonal surges into relatable yet laughable one-liners.
