So, there’s now a lawsuit over McDonald’s mozzarella sticks
McDonald’s granted an array of food-related wishes when they unveiled their new mozzarella sticks. However, these seemingly tasty treats are now being thrown in the fryers of justice.
While many are having issues with the sticks because they’re just that – sticks with no mozzarella included – one California man has another issue with the product. Specifically, Chris Howe believes that the menu is falsely advertising the new addition because the sticks don’t actually contain “100 percent real” mozzarella cheese.
According to the suit, tests revealed that 3.76% of the cheese contains starch. Now, Howe is seeking a minimum of $5 million for himself and other customers in over 40 states. All in the name of false advertisement and cheese that isn’t 100% cheesy.
As for McDonald’s, they disagreed with the claim, telling Law360 that “our mozzarella cheese sticks are made with 100 percent low moisture part skim mozzarella cheese.” Since they stated that they did not attempt to deceive consumers, the fast food chain is now prepared to raise their spatulas and fight back against the allegedly false claim.
At this point, food-based lawsuits are becoming a tale as old as thyme (please do take a moment to chuckle at that pun), but it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in this… sticky situation.
