Reminder: McDonald’s will be handing out free soft serve this weekend
If your calendar isn’t already marked, then pencil in a celebration for National Ice Cream Day on Sunday. A ton of different dairy venues are hosting specials this weekend, including our fave fast food chain. Come Sunday, July 16th, participating McDonald’s will be doling out free vanilla cones all day, baby!

This Sunday’s ice cream-filled fun-day will follow McDonald’s 24-hour #SoftServed campaign. Specifically, the company teamed up with Nerdist to write personalized compliments to fans and customers via Twitter that turn the saying “You’ve been served” on its head.

Sunday’s Free Vanilla Cone promotion also celebrates McDonald’s recent changes to its soft serve recipe. In May, the company announced that their soft serve does not contain artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
Alongside the soft serve improvements, McDonald’s is in the process of removing preservatives from their McNuggets, switching to cage-free eggs by 2025 in the U.S. and Canada, and only using chicken meat from chickens not treated with antibiotics important to human medicine.
