McDonald’s employees are getting new uniforms — and they look like something out of a sci-fi movie

When you think of McDonald’s, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Yummy milkshakes? Delicious hash browns? A smiling clown? We bet it’s not stormtroopers from Star Wars or District 13 from The Hunger Games. That is, until now.

We recently learned that McDonald’s uniforms just got a serious makeover, and they look like clothes you’d see in a futuristic movie about a dystopian society.

Last week, the fast food chain posted a #tbt video on Twitter showing how their uniforms have changed through the years. It includes trends from 1950, 1960, 1968, and 1974. At the end of the video, McDonald’s debuted their brand new 2017 uniform styles for managers and crew members. And they’re not what we expected AT ALL.

The new McDonald’s uniforms are very minimalistic, designed with monochromatic shades of black and gray. According to a McDonald’s press release, the company collaborated with designers Waraire Boswell and Bindu Rivas to create the two collections.

“More than 70% of restaurant employees surveyed feel that the new uniforms provide a modern image that they would be proud to wear, the press release reads.

The people of Twitter have some serious opinions on he new uniforms. A lot of people think the new uniforms missed the mark. false

Despite the Twitter backlash, we’ll play devil’s advocate. The McDonald’s uniforms from 1968 and 1974 are pretty space age-y too. Look at that white v-neck tunic! And the royal blue smock! We’re sure we’ll look back on the 2017 uniforms and laugh some day, and make a joke about how closely they resemble Yeezy Season 4. Also, real talk: That gray-on-black pocket tee is so fetch, and that long-sleeved gray shirt looks downright cozy.

Keep your eyes peeled for the new McDonald’s uniforms, which all employees will be receiving immediately!
