McDonald’s is changing a majority of its burgers in a big way
Fast foodies: We have some exciting news. Within the next year and a half, in a majority of its restaurants, McDonald’s will be serving fresh beef in quarter pounder burgers. While all McDonald’s burgers already have no fillers, additives, or preservatives, these fresh beef quarter pounders will be prepared when ordered. Meaning, most quarter pounders won’t use frozen beef by the middle of 2018.
In the restaurant’s statement, president and chief executive officer of McDonald’s, Steve Easterbrook, said the company has been changing up its menu over the last two years. That includes serving chicken not treated with antibiotics (that are “important to human medicine”), using cage-free eggs, and serving all-day breakfast (uh, debatably the best change so far).
Other fast food restaurants have used freshly prepared meat, but this will be the first time for McDonald’s. USA Today compiled a list of all those other fast food joints and now McDonald’s will join the ranks of In-N-Out Burger, Five Guys, Wendy’s, Shake Shack, Whataburger, Smashburger, and Culver’s with their fresh quarter pounders.
So, next time you order a quarter pounder at McDonald’s between now and mid-2018, see if you can taste the change from frozen to fresh. Because it’s all part of McDonald’s master plan to make you crave their food even more than you already do.
