Matthew Lewis casually got married in Italy, and be still our broken hearts
Neville Longbottom is a married man! We repeat, Neville “the glow-up is real” Longbottom, a.k.a. Matthew Lewis, is married! The Harry Potter actor was engaged to lifestyle blogger Angela Jones for a little under two years. And it appears that the happy couple recently tied the knot in Italy.
On Monday, May 28th, Lewis casually broke the news by sharing a wedding photo with a hilarious caption. “Not only did I miss @ArcticMonkeys in LA but they were performing in Italy at the same time we were there and my wife made me get married instead,” he tweeted. “Fuming.”
Uhhhm, say what now? According to their wedding photographer’s Instagram Story, the two got hitched in Portofino, Italy, which is a beautiful seaside town. You might know Portofino from every photo that shows up on Google when you search “Italian coast.”
Lewis and Jones are a relatively low-key couple, but their meet-cute is quite possibly the best story ever.
The couple got engaged in December 2016 about a year after they met at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. YES! THAT’S WHERE THEY MET! Jones was working at the Orlando, Florida park when Lewis came to town for a Harry Potter event and well, the rest is history.
You can call it fate (or a love potion), but we think that falling in love with a Harry Potter star at the namesake theme park is just *kisses fingers like an Italian chef* perfection.
"I never believed in soul mates until we met," Jones wrote on her blog. "We came from two different countries, 4,334 miles apart, and yet we were one and the same. A few months after meeting, he proposed to me in Paris during my first trip abroad. Yes, it’s been that kind of fairytale thing. We’ve travelled to some incredible places since and I’ve learned to appreciate different cultures, food, people and politics. I’ve especially learned to embrace British culture, whether I’ve fancied it or not."
