Matt LeBlanc, aka Joey from “Friends,” is joining this long-running show

Is it just us or are all the “Friends” coming out of the woodwork lately? Yes, Jennifer Aniston has never stepped out of the spotlight, but stars like Lisa Kudrow, who brought back her quirky show The Comeback last year, and David Schwimmer, who’s back in the news for his portrayal of Robert Kardashian in American Crime Story, have got us pretty excited about new career moves for the cast of one of the best shows in television history.

Next up is Matt LeBlanc, best known for playing Joey, who’s joining cult car show Top Gear this year. According to E!, the 48-year-old actor has been tapped to co-host the BBC show, making him the first non-Brit to do so since the series started in 1977.

“As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honored and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter,” said LeBlanc in a statement. “What a thrill!”

This isn’t the actor’s first time stepping into the driver’s seat at Top Gear: He guest-starred on the show twice before and briefly hosted a spinoff of the program known as Top Gear: The Races. It doesn’t hurt either that LeBlanc is regularly spotted at Formula 1 races.

Top Gear lost three of its most popular hosts last year and is now working overtime to revamp its image and draw non-British audiences. We think Matt LeBlanc’s affable personality and Joey Tribbiani good looks will definitely be a great addition to the program.
