Matt Damon and Ben Affleck still find time to hang, because sometimes the world makes sense
If you’re a pop culture aficionado of a certain age, then the Matt Damon/Ben Affleck creative partnership/bromance basically gave you friendship goals for life. So you can imagine how insanely happy it made us to discover that Damon and Affleck still hang out on the regs.
That’s right. According to an interview with Affleck for US Magazine, the two will use what little down time they have each week to just chill out and watch Sunday football. And while that might sound like NBD, it kind of warms our hearts to know that two kids who grew up together in Boston still genuinely enjoy spending time together.
Specifically, the interviewer asked Affleck: “What’s a perfect day like for you when you’re not working and not with your kids?”
To which he said, "I don’t know if that day ever comes. I don’t spend too much time just kicking back. On Sundays I like to watch the Patriots with Matt. That’s a nice, relaxing day."
Again, we are semi-irrationally obsessed with the fact that these two are still such close friends. Because Hollywood is a rough town, and we have it on good authority (aka, movies and TV) that fame changes people. So to hear that these guys still have a bond after all these years, and still consider hanging out on a Sunday to be a “nice, relaxing day” warms our inner-tween’s heart.
Also, we’ll continue to love these guys forever, and we’ll always be ready for Good Will Hunting 2 (or at the very least, another movie collab).
