The most underrated trend at Paris Fashion Week *had* to have been inspired by “The Matrix”

Of all the great trends that Paris Fashion Week has bestowed upon us this week — rainbow-unicorn eyeliner, Katniss Everdeen makeup, all silver everything — the revival of The Matrix sunglasses is the most mind-bending of them all. Literally!

Since the cult-favorite film franchise wrapped in 2003, we thought we’d seen the last of those slender sunglasses.

But thanks to Balenciaga and Kendall Jenner, the futuristic shades are making a high-fashion comeback — and trust us, they look really cool!

For starters, we should have immediately caught on to this trend when Kendall touched down in Paris last week. Basically dressed in Neo’s edgy black costume, the 21-year-old supermodel sported a lengthy leather coat over her all-noir ensemble, rocking those edgy shades like a badass as she made her way through the airport. Fierce!

Call her clairvoyant or not, but KJ was basically giving us a peek into the future ahead of the Balenciaga show. At the behest of the always awe-inspiring artistic director Demna Gvasalia, the Balenciaga girls sauntered down the runway in everything from evening ball gowns to daytime blouses while rocking the shades.

Had we ever thought to pair shades with a formal dress? Well, no. But after seeing these sleek sunnies on the catwalk, there’s hardly anything we wouldn’t want to wear them with! They’re edgy, they’re spunky, and they’re statement-making in all the right ways. Not to mention, we just really love how tickled Keanu Reeves must be over this right now.

Now excuse us while run to the store and snatch up a pair of these Matrix-inspired sunnies before they’re all sold out, because this is not a nostalgic trend we intend to miss!
