Oh, happy day! Matilda and Lavender from ‘Matilda’ reunited IRL
One of the sweetest fictional friendships from our youth was little Matilda and Lavender in the film adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Matilda. Partners in crime at Crunchem Hall, these girls battled rogue newts, sat through an arduous after-school detention where they had to watch a boy eat an entire printer-sized chocolate cake, and comforted each other after terrifying trips to the “chokey.” They were there for each other through thick and thin, and totally epitomized what it means to be BFFs.
It’s been 19 years since Matilda came out in theaters(!), and we actually haven’t seen much of Mara Wilson, or Kiami Davael on screen since then (although if you have spare time, TOTALLY read Mara Wilson’s Cracked.com articles — they’re hilarious to the nth degree). While Mara decided acting wasn’t for her, Kiami was in a few projects over the years like Bruno, and an episode of Moesha — and most recently she wrote a short a few years back.
However! The two got together about a week ago, and captured their reunion on Instagram. These gals look amazing and happy, and that makes us SO happy! Along with the Insta, Kiami included the caption, “Lunch date with my sis from another miss @MaraWritesStuff #WeStillHang #SoHappyToSeeHer #BFF #JustLikeTheOldDays.”
Can I get a “AWWWW”? Long live Matilda + Lavender!
