Mary-Kate Olsen opened up about the realities of married life and being a stepmom
Given how notoriously private the Olsen twins are, we were surprised to learn that Mary-Kate Olsen opened up about married life in Net-a-Porter’s The Edit (a joint interview with Ashley). And you might be surprised to find that life with hubby Olivier Sarkozy is so utterly normal.
Of course, Mary-Kate is incredibly busy with the Elizabeth and James clothing label that she co-created with Ashley, but her regular everyday activities are totally relatable. She’s a stepmom to Sarkozy’s two children, and she cooks them dinner just like a non-famous family.
"I think we're lucky. [Working hard] comes quite naturally for us. We don't need so much time to sit and think and ponder. But then I have a husband, two stepkids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner. I run on the weekend. You find the thing that helps you relax, and if you don't have it, you have to look for it. Or you get burned out, and then you're not productive," Mary-Kate told The Edit.
We couldn’t agree more about needing to find your special “thing,” because life can get overwhelming. Sounds like Mary-Kate is in a very positive mental place, and we couldn’t be happier that things are going so well.
Sister Ashley is dating art dealer Richard Sachs, so her personal life is probably pretty hectic as well. Hopefully, they manage to get some good sister time in sometimes! As hard as we try, we can’t imagine what it would be like to be an Olsen twin…but they’ve managed the attention so well for many, many years.
