Marley Dias, the amazing girl behind #1000BlackGirlBooks, is getting her own book published

We are filled with pure, sweet joy right now because Marley Dias is getting a book published! Dias, the superstar behind the all-too-necessary #1000BlackGirlBooks, a book drive that seeks to bring black girl characters into focus, is getting a book on activism published by Scholastic, and we’re ridiculously proud of this superstar. Talk about black girl magic in a huge, huge way! Oh, Marley Dias, we wanna be just like you!

In a Scholastic press release, Andrea Davis Pinkney, Vice President, Executive Editor, Scholastic said,

“Marley’s energy and passion are electric! Through her smarts and ingenuity, she’s delivered a jolt of inspiration that’s sent an unstoppable shock-wave to kids everywhere who’ve stood up with Marley to shout ‘Yes!’ to the power of positive action. In this book, Marley will share her dynamic wisdom with readers everywhere. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the Scholastic family.

Yes, yes, and more yes. This is just the news we needed. We are filled with nonsense levels of pride right now.

Marley Dias is absolutely THRILLED, because, well, it’s a pretty *massive* deal!

“I am so excited to be doing this book with Scholastic. All my friends can probably only name one publishing house and that is Scholastic; they are everywhere. Scholastic is the perfect partner for spreading my message of diversity, inclusion and social action.

Ah, we’re literally tearing up over this. This is one seriously incredible human being, and we absolutely can’t wait to read her book!
