Where did Mark Zuckerberg go to college? Let’s just say he’s cream of the crop
While most of us have been talking about Facebook for more than a decade, the company is especially on everyone’s mind these days since Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is currently testifing before Congress over the misuse of user information on his platform. The whole scandal might make you wonder how the wunderkind got his start in the tech industry, as well as: Where did Mark Zuckerberg go to college?
If you ever saw The Social Network, than you already know that Facebook was highly inspired by Zuckerberg’s undergraduate experience at Harvard University. Originally called “The Facebook,” Zuckerberg created the social networking site from his Harvard dorm room. The network was initially for Harvard students only, but based on its popularity, Zuckerberg later granted other colleges access.
However, Zuckerberg didn’t technically graduate from Harvard (at least not back then). After his product proved a success, he decided to relocate to Palo Alto, California and focus his efforts on building the company. Overall, we’d say he did pretty well for himself…in fact, Zuckerberg’s net worth is currently estimated at 69.5 billion.
Dropping out of Harvard is a big risk, but he had so much faith in Facebook that he figured it was his best move.
And a little over a decade after dropping out, Zuckerberg received an honorary degree.
He was asked to speak at Commencement Day in 2017, so he’s clearly in pretty good standing with the place.
"Few individuals can rival Mark Zuckerberg in his drive to change our world through the innovative use of technology, as well as his commitment to advance science, enhance education, and expand opportunity through the pursuit of philanthropy," said Harvard President Drew Faust.
As far as Cambridge Analytica is concerned, Zuckerberg isn’t in the clear just yet. Today, April 11th, marks his second day of testimony, and we’re eager to hear how this plays out.
