Mark Wahlberg recalled the time he took on his daughter’s boyfriend and lost
Fathers, as we know, can be very protective of their children, especially when it comes to dating. But Mark Wahlberg has shared a moment when his protective father routine backfired, and it’s one of the most hilarious stories we’ve heard all year.
The actor dropped by The Graham Norton Show to promote his new movie, Transformers: The Last Knight, which marks the last movie in Michael Bay’s current iteration of the franchise. He was joined by Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland, with whom he shared some sage advice about being a young’un in Hollywood, which involved flying his brothers out to California to enjoy the weather and avoiding arrest.

When quizzed by host Graham Norton about the fact that his daughter was now dating, Wahlberg recounted one particular story about how he tried some protective fatherly intimidation on the guy she had brought home to meet the family.
“I was like, I wanna meet this kid… and then you can hang out with him in a safe environment, and she was like, ‘What’s a safe environment, Dad?’” he recalled. “Everything is the attitude.”
Then, when his daughter’s suitor came over, something unexpected happened.
“So all of a sudden this kid comes over, and he one-ups me…he brings his mom! The genius thing is he was so sweet and [my daughter] is like steamrolling me all the time, and he’s seeing it, like she’s being rude to me and she’s being mean to me, and it’s like, if you’re not nice to him, he may not wanna be around you,” he recalled.
Describing the boy as a “keeper” and “really nice,” the actor said that, actually, his daughter’s boyfriend was basically the perfect guy.
"I'm like, okay, the perfect scenario is to find one boy that she's with forever," he said, before quipping: "But I don't know if she can hold him down."

Tbh, we love the idea of Mark Wahlberg being all macho only to get owned by his daughter’s boyfriend. It’s totally hilarious, and a genius move on the boyfriend’s part. He really does sound like a keeper.
