You can officially rent Marilyn Monroe’s apartment

It’s impossible to imagine living in Marilyn Monroe’s world. The actress, model, and singer is one of the most iconic humans of all time for good reason. It is no secret that Marilyn was always so much more than a sex symbol. Monroe was a businesswoman, a voracious reader, and an immensely talented poet. She had an exceptionally high IQ and a great love for art. With every passing year, her brilliance and talent have only become more apparent, and her death more tragic.

And now, this incomparable icon’s home in New York City is officially up for rent: For the mere price of $27,500/month, Marilyn Monroe’s Upper East Side sanctuary can be yours.

Obviously, that’s a pretty penny to drop on your living quarters — especially a rental. But if you have the cash to spare, you do get a lot for your buck. The four-story, four bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom pre-war townhouse is absolutely stunning. We can just imagine Monroe curling up with a book in its living room; or descending the stairs on her way to somewhere fabulous.

“127 East 78th Street is an homage to an iconic moment in history,” John Carapella, who is representing the property for Town Residential, told The Daily Mail. “Throughout the home, original details have been lovingly preserved and modern conveniences seamlessly infused. It is an honor to represent this treasure.”

Along with the honor of calling Monroe’s old address your own, the place comes with over 3,500 square feet of interior space, a wooden outside deck, grand marble staircase, European terrace, “ornate fireplace mantels,” and gorgeous high ceilings. It has a few other modern amenities, as well, including the stuff all struggling New Yorkers dream of: Central air and heating, and your own personal laundry room in the basement. As a bonus, there’s also a steam shower and a Jacuzzi tub for when you’re feeling extra fancy because you’re living in a $27,500/month apartment.

Just in case having one of the most iconic humans of all time as a former tenant doesn’t persuade you of the property’s value, a few other celebrities have also called 127 East 78th Street home; including Bette Davis and photographer Milton Greene. While a few things have been updated over the years, the place still has a ton of old Hollywood glamour and charm — and it’s easy to see why Marilyn fell in love.
