Mariah Carey’s tribute to George Michael is both personal and incredibly touching
As you probably know, we lost yet another legend in the past few days. Upon hearing about the death of George Michael, Mariah Carey posted an incredible tribute to the singer. And, this one means a lot, since there’s a lot of evidence that these two were pretty close.
New reports are coming out that Michael was found by boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, which is incredibly tragic. In fact, Fawaz tweeted about “finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning” on Christmas, noting that it was a moment that would unfortunately stay with him for an incredibly long time.
Michael’s official cause of death has just been speculated at this point, but no matter what, one thing is certain — he was taken from us way too soon.
Michael’s relationship with Carey was definitely one of a kind. The two legendary singers inspired each other, so as you’d expect, Carey’s tribute was incredibly heartfelt.
George Michael 💔😢 You were such an inspiration. I'm honored to have not only been your fan, but a friend as well. May you rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/jJKSz22fHH

"I'm honored to have not only been your fan, but a friend as well," Carey wrote.
The love was definitely shared between them. While Michael rarely used his Twitter account, he did send some sweet words to Carey back in 2014.

Since Twitter only allows so much, she even posted a longer tribute on her personal website.
" He was a genius that gave us classics like ‘Faith’ as well as boundary pushing singles ‘I Want Your Sex’ and ‘Father Figure,'" Carey said. "He also gave us the FIRST modern Christmas classic with ‘Last Christmas'" Carey wrote on MariahsWorld.com.

"George was not only a great musician, he was an active ambassador in the LBGTQ community, pushing for greater understanding, acceptance, and love for all people," she continued. "He touched so many lives and inspired us all."
He definitely did. It’ll take us a long time to get over this incredible loss.
