There’s a TV show about Mariah Carey’s life in the works, and that’s all we want for Christmas

Grab some popcorn and the most sequined article of clothing you own, because there’s a Mariah Carey drama series coming out, according to Deadline — and we just know that it’s going to be all kinds of juicy goodness.

Mariah Carey HERSELF is producing the upcoming Starz show, which will be based on her real-life experience going from a 16-year-old struggling artist to a record-breaking pop sensation.

There’s also a slew of exciting producers on board for the series, including John Cheng (Horrible Bosses) and Teri Weinberg (Ugly Betty). No word yet on who will play Carey, so let those fan castings begin…

We also don’t have a release date just yet, but there’s still plenty of Carey material to go around until then. The singer was recently at the center of the 8-episode documentary series Mariah’s World, which followed her as she began a European tour and planned her wedding to then-fiancé James Packer.

Even though it gave a peak into Carey’s day-to-day life, don’t go calling it a reality show.

“I refuse to call it a reality show, Carey told The New York Times. “I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am...A lot of people have misperceptions about this and that.

Then, you know, there’s Mariah Carey’s amazing music to hold you over, like her hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — you know, because Christmas in July is a very real and important thing.

So we’ll certainly be blasting that while we wait for the drama series to debut on Starz!
