Margot Robbie’s dress fell apart during the 2018 Oscars, but she sewed it back together because she’s resourceful AF

In another edition of “And this is why we love her,” I, Tonya star Margot Robbie avoided a wardrobe malfunction by putting her sewing skills to the test at the 2018 Oscars.

Robbie looked stunning in a white custom Chanel dress, which included beaded straps. However, according to People.com, one of the straps almost fell apart inside the theater. After asking someone from her team for a basic sewing kit, she was able to make sure the dress stayed put. Even better, she had a sense of humor about the ordeal. When People.com asked her about the wardrobe malfunction, the actress retorted with, “Oh, ain’t got time for that!”

Speaking of time, the dress itself took many hours to create. InStyle reported that the dress was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, and the straps and crystal embroidery took about 550 hours to complete. In total, the dress took over 600 hours to make. But it was all in the name of fashion.

While Robbie was nominated for Best Actress for her work in I, Tonya, she lost out to Frances McDormand. But the movie, which was nominated in three categories, didn’t leave empty-handed. Robbie’s co-star Allison Janney won the award for Best Supporting Actress and made sure to thank Robbie in her acceptance speech.

Moral of the story? First, I, Tonya is awesome and you should definitely see it if you haven’t already. Second, the next time someone loses a strap at an awards show, they should try their hardest to locate Margot Robbie, stat. Girl is resourceful.
