Margot Robbie’s new role sounds like Harley Quinn 2.0

This might be stating the obvious, but Margot Robbie is awesome. We’re still processing her jaw-dropping performance as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, and now she’s got a brand new role for us to look forward to.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Robbie will portray real-life trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel in an adaptation of Dean N. Jensen’s book Queen of the Air.

NPR tells us that Leitzel was born into a family of circus performers in Germany, and soon became a household name in gravity-defying aerial acrobatics. Her signature move apparently required her to dislocate her shoulder at every turn.

Ummmmm does that remind you of someone?

In addition to chronicling her meteoric rise to fame, the book dives into Leitzel’s tumultuous relationship with fellow circus performer Alfredo Codona.

Guys! It’s Harley Quinn 2.0! We’re officially calling it.

Okay, so while this is obviously going to be a very different movie from Suicide Squad and will chronicle what (we hope) will be a very different dynamic than that of Harley Quinn and The Joker, we can’t help but see some parallels.

The screenplay was written by Cat Vasko, an up-and-comer whose first script, Situation Comedy, was on last year’s Black List, and so far no director is officially attached.

Weseriously can’t wait to see Margot Robbie soar to new heights (literally) as Harley Quinn Lilian Leitzel.
