Maren Morris Defended Her “Mom Boobs” After Trolls Called Her Pic “Distasteful”
The country singer gave birth to her son in March.
It must be another day on the internet because another woman just had to defend her body simply for existing. Maren Morris tried to show off her new wavy hair on Instagram, and she was met with trolls who criticized her cleavage, calling the (totally normal) selfie “distasteful.” First of all: Ugh. But, second of all, the country singer was definitely not having this treatment and clapped back with a note about her “mom boobs.”
Morris posted two pictures to Instagram on July 21st, with the caption “? w a v y ? hair” and a tag for her stylist, Marwa Bashir. (Those ’90s tendrils!) Trolls, however, were telling on themselves by focusing instead on her chest.
“Wavy hair as the camera is only on your tits,” one person commented. “Yes it’s distasteful for sure. Come on if your caption reads wavy hair maybe keep the focus on the hair, or perhaps make the caption big boobs? Just saying like holy cow.”
“Everything in this world doesn’t make sense anymore, clearly these littles don’t have much to look up to either,” the commenter continued, seeming to reference the Morris’ younger music fans.
The “holy cow” part? We agree because the singer looks “holy cow” amazing in these pictures. The rest is some sexist nonsense—and Morris agrees.
Girl BYE. Don’t let my boobs knock you on the way out, Morris clapped back.
Though she in no way owes anyone, especially not sexist trolls, an “explanation” about her body’s appearance, she posted about her “mom boobs” on Twitter. “Mom boobs for life,” she Tweeted the same day. “If you’re offended, sign off. ??”
The “The Bones” singer gave birth to her first child, her son Hayes, in March. She has already faced mommy shamming across social media, leading her to remove pictures of Hayes from Twitter.
There were some bright lights coming out of all of the sexist trolling hubbub, though. Morris’s friend Karina Argow made a punny comment about those “waves.”
“Let’s get a motorboat out on those wavesssss,” Argow wrote, cheekily. To which the new mother responded, “Girl these are temporary. Yours are for lyfe.” Morris’ husband, Ryan Hurd, also commented “nice hair” on the Instagram pics, and she wrote back, “I knew you’d notice.” Amazing.
Though Morris can clearly handle herself on social media, let’s put a moratorium on shaming women for their bodies merely existing in public, shall we?
