The Florida school shooting survivors are organizing the March For Our Lives, a march on Washington to demand action on gun control
In the wake of the horrific school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 people dead, the survivors are determined to inspire change. They’ve attended rallies, delivered powerful speeches, spoken to the media, and become passionate proponents of gun control. And now, they’re ready to take things to the next level. The Florida school shooting survivors are planning a massive march on Washington, D.C. — aptly named the March For Our Lives — and they’re calling out the politicians that could have done more to prevent the tragedy at their school and so many others.
The March For Our Lives promises to be a direct plea for more gun control. The student organizers are determined that this tragedy will be a turning point in the public debate on gun violence in this country. 11th grader Cameron Kasky, one of the event organizers, explained that the event is about starting a much-needed dialogue.
“People are saying that it’s not time to talk about gun control. And we can respect that,” Kasky told ABC News. “Here’s a time. March 24th in every single city. We are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives.”

The March For Our Lives is coming together quickly.
The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School took place on February 14th. Just four days later, the students have a website, a social media presence, and the support of many for their March on Washington. The student organizers are encouraging their peers across the country to join in on this protest and be a part of a sweeping change.
"The kids who need to take part in this are kids, everyday kids just like us. They are students who need to understand that this can very quickly happen to them," Emma Gonzalez told ABC News. "They need to join us, and they need to help us get our message across. All students should realize that a school shooting could happen anywhere."
The March For Our Lives is already receiving widespread media attention.
More importantly, students and schools all across the country have been offering up their support for this event.
