Male Maratus spider does the electric slide, because the ladies love it

The Maratus personatus is a newly discovered spider within the peacock spider species and is officially the most adorable spider in existence (typing “officially” makes it official, I think). Technically, the spiders don’t have much to compete with, though (no offense, other spiders).

The tiny spiders, which were recently discovered in coastal bushland in Western Australia, are only three to five millimeters in length — but their good looks make up for their lack in size. The male spiders wear a blue mask to court females, because obviously blue masks are the way to a spider girl’s heart. They also perform the cutest, most embarrassing dance to entice the females into having their babies. The dance is pretty much the Electric Slide on branches — so chances are it works.

It might be the endearing background music of this YouTube video that makes the spiders look so fun and cute, but it probably has more to do with the male spider’s dance skillz and adorable blue mask (or sexy blue mask, depending on who you ask. . . we’re looking at you, spiders ladies).
