Mandy Moore has opened up about her non-traditional family and we’re applauding
While 2016 has mostly been a trash bag of a year, we’re so grateful that NBC and This Is Us has brought the return of Mandy Moore into our lives. And now Mandy has spoken about her two gay brothers and how her mom is with another woman for the first time.
The star has been quite candid this year. Speaking to People earlier this year, she opened up about her divorce from Ryan Adams after six years of marriage, and she also had this great thing to say about her friend dating her ex, Wilmer Valderrama.
Now Mandy Moore has opened up about her unconventional family life and what she has to say is just so amazing.
Speaking to Byrdie, Moore spoke about how, like her character on This Is Us, she had never felt the need to have a traditional family life. Calling her family “the least traditional” she said:
"I’ve never really talked about this, but my parents are divorced. My mother left my father for a woman. And both of my two brothers are gay."
The 32-year-old went on to say that her own marriage to Adams at the age of 24 was, perhaps, a way of going down the traditional family route. However, she said:
"I learned that that wasn’t going to be the fruitful experience I wanted it to be.
Indeed, now she says that she’s made peace with her life and how everything is with her family, saying that they’re “exactly where they should be.”
"Everyone’s so much happier, richer, and more fulfilled, being their authentic selves," she said.
It must have been difficult for Moore to deal with the separation of her parents’ marriage. However, we’re so glad that she’s reached the conclusion that everyone is happier living their lives as they want to. It’s also amazing to see her supporting her family, no matter their differences.
