Mandy Moore says this was her most regrettable hairdo

Everyone has a former hairdo that they regret. Even Mandy Moore, who hated her blonde hair and bangs — a ‘do that she sported during some of her most iconic moments of the late ’90s and early aughts.

Who could forget Mandy Moore’s blonde hair in the music video for her 1999 song Candy? No one, that’s who! Back in 2002, the This is Us star’s long brown hair and bangs were a memorable aspect of her role in the iconic film A Walk to Remember.

These were important looks of every ’90’s girl’s life at some point, and even if Moore looks back and cringes, they’ll always be special to us.

For instance, Moore’s blonde hair was center stage in one of the best movies ever.

Even though we might selfishly be glad we’ll always be able to see Moore in her blonde phase whenever we watch The Princess Diaries (which is about once a week), it probably is annoying to have a look that you now regret forever immortalized.

The 33-year-old elaborated in an interview with Popsugar.

"I look at anything [from] when I'm a blonde, and I shudder a little bit to myself. I know it's not terrible, and it was very of-the-moment, but it's so not me. It seems so like a completely different person."

It’s true that Moore would look ravishing with any hairstyle — and at any age, as her 66-year-old character on This is Us reveals. But it must be hard to look back at your experimental phase and know that so many people remember you from that time.

Just to be safe, Moore has taken precautions to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself.

"I have told my close friends and my boyfriend if I ever talk about cutting bangs again to pull me aside and remind me [not to] because, anytime I cut bangs, it's that immediate sense of, ‘Cool! I'm already growing my bangs out again,'" Moore continued, adorably referring to fiancé Taylor Goldsmith as her boyfriend.

Moore also weighed in on her Walk to Remember-era bangs. “They’re pretty unfortunate, and they were really hard to grow out — as all bangs are! There was that awkward [phase], the barrette, and twisting your hair.” We’ve all been there.

All of that awkward hair-pinning and bang-growing was worth it, in our opinion, because the bangs fit her character Jamie so perfectly. It seems that now Moore has finally found the look that is most her, and we have to agree that she looks amazing — her crazy skincare gadget obviously works.

That Mandy, we just can’t get enough of her. She always leaves us wanting…Moore.
