Mandy Moore looks like a Cupcake Doll from the ’90s in her 2017 Emmys gown
Mandy Moore’s 2017 Emmys red carpet dress can be summed up in three words: drama, drama, drama!
The This Is Us actress piled on the volume last night in a frothy, three-tiered confection courtesy of Carolina Herrera. The spring 2018 number played on polarizing monochromatic hues and textures, making for one high-octane ensemble. While it may not be the dress for everyone, there’s no denying that this daring design is absolutely whoa-worthy, and made for an unforgettable addition to this already memorable red carpet.
Now, while we think this confection is nothing short of sophisticated, it does remind us of those sugary-sweet ’90s Cupcake Dolls. The ones with the full tiered skirts that resembled, you know, cupcakes. Right?!
C’mon, don’t tell us the resemblance is totally lost on you. If Mandy Moore’s dress were a punchy color of the rainbow, it’d be a dead-ringer for one of those dolls.

Topped off with Jennifer Meyer jewels, a glamorous chignon, and a popping fuschia lip, Mandy’s look is basically art. And that’s exactly what she and her fashion stylist, Erica Cloud, were going for.
“We knew it the moment we tried it on,” Cloud told People of selecting the stunning dress.
Well, she’s definitely right: Mandy did look like a classic, Old Hollywood movie star.
Mandy, who was nominated along with the rest of the This Is Us cast for Outstanding Drama Series, shared a few emotional moments with her fellow cast mates at the show. Particularly, she captured a moment with her on-screen son, Sterling K. Brown, who took home the prize for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Awe, the Pearson’s always know how to make us melt.
