Mandy Moore’s ponytail at the 2019 SAG Awards featured the chicest hidden detail
As presumably the world’s nicest person, Mandy Moore deserves only the best things this world has to offer. And we’ll stand by that claim until proven otherwise (won’t happen) or, more likely, until the end of time. This is why we’re thrilled to report that at last night’s 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where Mandy Moore stunned in an off-the-shoulder black custom-made Jason Wu gown, her simple ponytail was accessorized with a chic little detail that you might have missed.
Celebrity hairstylist and regular Mandy Moore collaborator Ashley Streicher revealed that after using the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler to style Moore’s hair, she had placed a single white pearl in the center of her ponytail, right underneath the wrapped base.
“Between all of us — Jason, her stylist Christina, makeup artist Kindra Mann, and I—we decided that Mandy’s hair should be sleek and the top should be open,” Streicher told Allure, “so I gave her a strong side part and pulled her hair back tightly into a really low, sleek ponytail to give it a bit of an androgynous feel.”
The pearl came courtesy of a Jennifer Behr pearl-encrusted bobby pin, which you can buy on Shopbop. Streicher revealed to Allure that she added the pearl “to make [the ponytail] interesting. Jennifer Behr had sent me these little pearl bobby pins and I just thought it would be a fun embellishment that was simple and cool and not too gaudy.”
