Honey, honey, Cher joined the cast of the “Mamma Mia!” sequel

With its toe-tapping foundation of ABBA hits, the screen adaptation of Broadway’s Mamma Mia! already had plenty of sequined 1970s flair. But the followup to the 2008 movie is taking the rocking, retro vibe one platformed step further.
It’s adding Cher!!!
The singer/actress/all-around legend has joined Meryl Streep and the rest of the cast for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, but her part is currently pretty hush hush.
If you remember in the first movie, Donna (Streep) was dealing with three dudes (Stellan Skarsgard, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth) who may or may not be her daughter’s father. Oh, and they arrived on the weekend of said daughter’s (Amanda Seyfried) wedding.
Now, plot details are sparse about the sequel, but we do know that there have to be some flashbacks, as Lily James is reportedly playing a younger version of Streep’s character. That in mind, will Cher be the fabulous band manager of girl group Donna and the Dynamos? Or, some other figure from Donna’s past? The queen herself took to Twitter this week to drop some hints (and show off some seriously fierce boots):

Here We Go Again will be Cher’s first movie role since she appeared alongside Christina Aguilera in 2010’s Burlesque. This will be the *second* film she’s made with Streep, as the two previously acted together in 1983’s Silkwood — a movie that earned both women Oscar nods (note to self: rent Silkwood immediately).
Honestly, that’s a power couple of Dancing Queens pretty much anybody can get behind. So needless to say, we can’t wait to see the pair together again!
