The final Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again trailer is here, and it’s bursting with ABBA songs — and some bad dancing
Here we go again…for the last time. Pack your bags and start doing some vocal warmups, because we’re heading back to the beautiful island of Kalokairi. The final Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is here, and it’s chock-full of ABBA hits, singing, bad dancing, and not enough of Meryl Streep. We’re not sure if she’s trying to pull a Hawkeye (we simply refuse to believe that Donna is uh, dead), but like in the previous trailers, the actress noticeably absent from this one.
Borrowing a page from The Godfather Part II (yes, really), Mamma Mia 2 follows two timelines: the present, where Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is gearing up for motherhood and hoping to learn more about her mother’s past, and 1979, where we take a trip down memory lane to find out how Donna ended up on the Greek island in the first place. And, of course, we’re going to see how her romances with Sophie’s three dads — who, by the way, are all TOTAL babes in their youth, not that they still aren’t now — ensued. Thanks to Donna’s old bandmates slash BFFs, Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters), Sophie gets to know more about her mom and feel closer to her than ever before…even though she may or may not be dead.
To add a splash of drama, Cher — also known as the “wicked witch of the West,” aka, “grandma” — makes an unexpected appearance to possibly stir chaos, and belt out “Fernando,” of course! Oh, and she also claims that she wants to commit to being a grandmother, but we’ll have to see if she actually pulls through with her word.
