These before-and-after makeover photos of dogs are giving us so much life right now

We said it before, and we’ll say it again — sometimes the best way to cheer up when we’re facing a ton of gloom and doom is to look at pictures of puppies doing incredible things. Dogs have been known to lift depression, and seeing their faces fresh after a much-deserved haircut is a positive experience both for the canines, and for us. LA-based photographer Grace Chon decided to showcase a few “before and after” shots of cute dogs after a trip to Healthy Spot, a Santa Monica-based storefront and grooming salon for California’s top dogs. Offering boarding and training classes as well, Healthy Spot is definitely a great destination for your favorite pooch.

Seeing some of the work done by the groomers will definitely put a smile on your face. Here are a few of our favorites.

Teddy Before

Teddy After

What a difference a haircut makes! Teddy’s absolutely beaming after getting rid of some of his signature shag.

Athena Before

Athena After

One of Grace Chon’s goals was to capture a few pups who got a new look that wasn’t necessarily a common American style. Athena, especially, is rocking a cut that’s inspired by Japanese dog grooming — and she looks so cool.

Yuki Before

Yuki After

Yuki’s adorable look (I mean, she has braids) was accomplished by groomer Alyson Ogimachi over at Healthy Spot. She definitely made sure that Yuki was camera-ready.

Rocco Before

Rocco After

Rocco’s hip new haircut is a personal favorite. Just like Athena, Rocco got a Japanese-inspired cut all thanks to his groomer, Patricia Sugihara.

Biggie Smalls Before

Biggie Smalls After

Is this a dog, or a stuffed animal? Groomer Cameron Adkins transformed Biggie Smalls from an adorable pup, into a breathtaking cutie.

Lana Before

Lana After

Look at this little hairball! Koko Fukaya tamed Lana’s wild mane, and gave her a new look she can truly smile over.

If you love cute dogs, you might just want to follow Grace Chon on Instagram. In her words, she likes dogs better than people, which… well, we can definitely relate to most days.
