Two MAJOR “Girls” stars just filmed their last scenes and their Instagram goodbyes are so heartwarming

Lena Dunham’s Girls is ending after six seasons (the sixth and final season is currently shooting), and we couldn’t be more heartbroken. Girls bravely showed what it was like to be a twenty-something (and admittedly privileged) girl trying to “make it” in New York. But once they announced this would be the last season, we should have prepared ourselves. But we didn’t. And now, thanks to Instagram, we can see two major Girls cast members just shot their last scenes: Zosia Mamet and Jemima Kirke.

We got our first hint of their departure from Girls writer/producer Jenni Konner.

Co-star Allison Williams bid them a fond farewell.

We’re tearing up just reading her words.

She writes, “And then, there were two…we’re winding it down now. Zosia and Jemima just finished shooting their last scenes for Girls for good. I’m too emotional to be eloquent, so I’ll just say that I love you both a lot, and I’m so grateful for all your genius and sisterhood these last 6 years. And to Shosh and Jessa: I’ll see you around the bend.”

Then creator Lena Dunham got in on the goodbyes (and shared some #wisdom).

Her caption reads, “Today was Zosia & Jemima’s final day shooting Girls (Shoshanna & Jessa’s too). It’s been the most beautiful 6 years, and these women will always be sisters (mine and each other’s.) Sometimes all you have to do to become a family is make some art together and laugh a lot. Love you, my forever Girls.”

Of course Zosia bid a personal farewell.

Her caption is almost too sweet to handle.

She writes, “And that’s a wrap. It has been an unforgettable 6 years. To my GIRLS family, I adore you. To our fans, thank you for continuing to watch. And HBO, thank you for giving us a home. Shosh, it’s been real…ill miss you all.”

We will miss you, Shoshanna and Jessa. Thanks for entertaining us for all these years.
