Maisie Williams’ and Sophie Turner’s “Game of Thrones” audition is all kinds of adorable

Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner absolutely crush it on Game of Thrones as Arya and Sansa Stark, respectively. Of all the characters on the show, these two young Starks have undergone more growth (and, let’s face it, dealt with more atrocities) than a lot of their adult counterparts combined. They’ve blossomed into amazing young women and, of course, honed their acting talent.

But, guys, that was ALL THERE from the very beginning. All of it. The capacity for character growth. The amazing acting talent. The ability to just take a GoT scene, crush it, and leave us wowed. At least, that’s what we can learn from this video that intercuts their early auditions for Arya and Sansa into one full scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Maisie is utterly sassy in the best, most perfectly Arya way. Sophie is poised and refined and everything Season 1 Sansa Stark had to be as she prepared for (what she thought would be) a charmed life in King’s Landing. Oh and she’s also blonde, so there’s that.

It’s really no wonder that the Game of Thrones bosses tapped these two for the oh-so-important Stark parts. Of course, we haven’t seen the other hopefuls’ auditions (and we’re sure they were great in their own ways), but can you even imagine different actresses in these roles now? Another actress becoming No One only to be like, “No. A girl is ARYA STARK”? Another actress staring down Ramsay Bolton as he got exactly what was coming to him? Nope. We couldn’t imagine it either.
