Maggie Gyllenhaal has no idea why people keep asking her about Taylor Swift’s scarf
She’s checked her drawers, and there is literally no sign of Taylor Swift’s lost scarf in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s vicinity. Therefore, the actress would very much like the public to stop asking her about it. In fact, Gyllenhaal doesn’t even know what the heck Swift is talking about in her song, “All Too Well,” when she sings, “Left my scarf there at your sister’s house / And you still got it in your drawer even now.”
"You know, I never understood why everybody asked me about this scarf. What is this?" Gyllenhaal asked Watch What Happens Live host, Andy Cohen, on Tuesday.
Any good T-Swift fan will tell you that “All To Well” was written about Swift’s breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal, Maggie’s brother. Swift croons about Jake keeping her scarf because it “reminds [him] of innocence and smells like [Swift].”
Cohen read the lyrics in question aloud and The Deuce actress confessed,
"I am in the dark about the scarf. It's totally possible. I don't know, but I have been asked this before and I've been like, 'What are you talking about?'"
Perhaps her brother swiped the scarf before Gyllenhaal even noticed Swift left it behind. Maybe it’s now at his house where he takes it out of his dresser drawer every so often to reminisce. Or perhaps the scarf is a nice piece of imagery and the leaving of said scarf at Gyllenhaal’s house didn’t even happen.
Whatever the case may be, Gyllenhaal has no answer for us. It looks like this Taylor Swift mystery will remain unsolved.
