Madonna’s new video for ‘Ghosttown’ is here and so is Terrence Howard
Remember the haunting tune that Madonna absolutely slayed with Taylor Swift at the iHeartRadio Awards a couple weeks ago? Well, she’s just dropped the music video for the song in question, “Ghosttown,” and it involves some super rad choreography with the one and only Lucious Lyon. Wait, what?
Madonna’s described “Ghosttown,” off of her thirteenth (!) album Rebel Heart, as “about the city after armageddon. The burnt out city, the crumbling buildings, the smoke that’s still lingering after the fire … There’s only a few people left. How do we pick up the pieces and go on from here? Kind of dramatic. But not entirely impossible at this stage of the game.” That dramatic imagery is certainly in effect in the video, which features Madonna smizing and posing in her favored Victorian-esque costumes while being hunted by none other than Empire boss Terrence Howard.
We’re happy to see the pop icon take on outside projects like tackling Instagram’s female nipple censorship, but as she’s also one of the first performers to take image-building outside of music seriously, her videos are always works of art. “Ghosttown” is no exception to that rule.
As part of her multi-platform Rebel Heart music video campaign, the video debuted on Meerkat, the live-streaming app now in direct competition with Twitter’s Periscope. Luckily for fans, it’s now available on YouTube; watch Madonna and Howard in action below:
