Madonna and Stevie Wonder’s tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards was moving

While so many incredible moments happened tonight at the Billboard Music Awards, there was definitely one moment that stood out from the rest. Not only because revolves around two legends paying tribute to yet another, but also because it touched our hearts and made us whip out a giant box of tissues while cry-singing along at home.

I’m obviously talking about the extremely touching moment where Madonna paid tribute to Prince by belting out his biggest hits to a totally captivated  audience. Her performance began with a goosebumps-worthy moment of turning in a throne-like chair, completely dressed in clothing we’re certain Prince would approve of.

Then she began belting out some of Prince’s most famous hits and the goosebumps turned into emotional tears as everyone in America remembered what a great talent we recently lost. Knowing that Madonna and Prince had known each other a very long time (and even released the duet Love Song on Madonna’s Like a Prayer album) made the whole performance even more moving.

And then, out came Stevie Wonder to help his fellow superstar bring down the house while singing one of Prince’s all-time biggest hits, “Purple Rain.” The show-stopping moment caused very real clear tears to rain down the faces of everyone watching.

The wonderful and creative spirit of Prince was definitely circulating through the entire crowd as Madonna and Stevie Wonder brought down the house with his hits. Watch the whole video below to see, hear, and feel the musical magic. It’s obvious that Prince not only had an incredible impact on the world of music, but that his impact will be felt for generations to come. Farewell, sweet Prince.
