Madonna is standing by her son after his alleged arrest and we get it
Music legend and mother of four Madonna has come out in support of her son following his alleged arrest in the U.K.
Earlier this week it was reported that Madonna’s 16-year-old son, Rocco, was allegedly arrested for drug possession after being caught by police with marijuana. The event is said to have taken place in September, and comes months after a custody battle that saw Rocco move to London to live with his father, director Guy Richie.
According to a statement received to People magazine Police confirmed that Rocco had been arrested.
"The arrest follows a stop and search by officers from Camden borough on Wednesday, 28 September, the statement read. "[Rocco] was dealt with by way of Triage, which uses multiple strands to engage and educate young people in order to prevent re-offending."
According to British tabloid The Sun, Rocco won’t receive a criminal record for the charges.
Now Madonna has given a statement of support for her son.
Speaking to The Associated Press, the star said that she was standing by her son during this “family matter.”
"I love my son very much, she said. "I will do whatever I can to give him the support that he needs, and I ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Madonna, who was recently pictured filming the popular Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden, reached a custody deal with her ex-partner Guy Richie earlier this year after taking the matter to the High Courts on both sides of the Atlantic. The pair agreed that Rocco could remain living in the U.K. with his father.
Despite being a huge megastar, Madonna has proven that she is a mother first and foremost. There is always going to be press scrutiny and interest in her life and, as a result, the lives of her children. We think it’s amazing to see her stick by her family and we’re sending all our best to her and her family at this time.
