Madewell’s new beach-friendly capsule collection will make you feel *really* good about shopping
As if you needed another reason to hit up Madewell this weekend…but we’ve got one! Madewell’s new beach-ready capsule collection is officially available, and every purchase helps support the Surfrider Foundation, which protects and cleans our nation’s coastlines.
The limited-edition collection includes five pieces — two tees, two pairs of sunnies, and a must-have straw tote — all emblazoned with Surfrider’s mantra, Long Live the Beach. (Amen to that!)
What makes this partnership especially cool is the fact that, as part of the collection’s launch, Madewell associates on both coasts spent a day picking up trash with Surfrider at Rockaway Beach in New York and Venice Beach in Los Angeles. They gathered up 4,337 pieces of trash at Rockaway Beach alone — that’s more than 140 pounds of trash!
“As someone who grew up on the coast of California, I’ve long been aware of the Surfrider Foundation and the work that they do to keep our beaches and oceans healthy,” said Madewell’s head designer, Joyce Lee, in a statement. “I feel lucky to have helped create this collection that will contribute to their mission. Here’s to many sunny, beachy days ahead.”
