Madame Tussauds handled the Beyoncé wax figure problem, but not in the way we had hoped

Earlier this week, iconic wax museum Madame Tussauds unveiled its Beyoncé wax figure. Or really, the name next to the statue said “Beyoncé,” but the figure looked nothing like her. Every once in a while, a wax figure comes out that looks nothing like the celeb who inspired it. Sometimes it’s laughed off and forgotten about. But when you’re dealing with one of the most influential women in music, and her wax figure looks vaguely white-washed, there’s going to be some problems.

Maybe we would have expected that they change it? Or make a new one?

Instead, Madam Tussauds swiftly removed “Beyoncé” from the museum floor.

According to The New York Times, the statue is no longer in the museum. A staff member at the museum simply said that the statue was “off the floor until further notice.”

When the statue was first unveiled, a representative for Tussauds tried to explain why the figure’s skin was so light.

“Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures, which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage,” Madame Tussauds said in a statement.

Until then, here’s a look at the Beyoncé wax statue in London, which is the closest wax figure we have to honor the Queen.

Long story short: If you try to visit the wax museum in New York, you won’t find a Beyoncé statue. Here’s hoping that they make a new figure for Bey (and possibly her beybies?!) soon.
